Overview

This plugin provides a weather docklet to display the current weather information. It is capable of displaying forecasts for several locations.

Configuration

Select the Weather Docklet plugin in Do's preferences dialog and then click on Configure.

First select the weather provider. The drop-down box contains all possible providers. Different weather providers may provide different data, including different number of forecast days. Each provider also requires you to specify the location in possibly different formats.

After selecting the weather provider, enter your location in the Add Location box. For US cities, a US Zip Code usually works for all providers. For non-US cities, often entering the location as "City, Country" works. The Weather Channel source requires a special code, which can be found by viewing your city's forecast on their website. Click the Search button to get a list of possible locations. Click on one of the results to select it. When you have a valid location selected, click the Add button.

The first location listed will be your default location. Use the Move Up and Move Down buttons to re-arrange your locations.

There are also options to specify how frequently the data updates and if the data should be displayed using Metric units (or US units).

Use

To use the docklet after it has been configured and enabled, simply left-click the icon. This will display the forecast for your location. Left click on the forecast to see a chart of high/low temperatures. Left click on the temperature chart to view a description of the forecast conditions. You may also use the mouse wheel to move between views.

If you have selected more than one location, you can switch locations by using the mouse wheel on the docklet's main icon.

The docklet's right-click menu contains links to open all available day's forecasts in your default browser. It also contains a link to view the radar for your location. There is also a link to reload the weather data immediately.

All commands available in the right-click menu are also available as actions:

  • Radar Map
  • Monday's Forecast
  • Tuesday's Forecast
  • Wednesday's Forecast
  • Thursday's Forecast
  • Friday's Forecast
  • Saturday's Forecast
  • Sunday's Forecast
  • Reload Weather Data
