Description

Browse through folders
Browse through folders

The Files and Folders plugin allows you to:

  • Index the contents of folders for quick search in Do.
  • Browse contents of folders (select any non-empty folder and press right-arrow).
  • Use the Move to..., Copy to..., Create empty file, and Create directory actions to manage files.
  • Type the name of a file or folder and open it with the Open action.
  • Type the name of a folder (as a pure text item) and view its contents by pressing right-arrow.

The principal feature of this plugin is indexing your most important files for easy access in Do. By default, your Desktop, Documents, home folder, and other common folders will be indexed. To open a file or folder, simply type a few letters in its name until Do finds it, make sure the Open action is selected, and hit return.

Configuration

Files & Folders Configuration

The Files and Folders plugin has a configuration page that allows you to manage which folders are indexed. In the plugin management tab of the preferences window, select the Files and Folders plugin, making sure it is enabled, and click the configure button. This will open another window where you can add or remove folders indexed by the plugin. You must indicate to which depth you would like each folder indexed; be careful not to index too many folders too deeply, or else you may have trouble finding what you want in search results and Do may become sluggish. We recommend indexing your Documents folder a few levels deep so that you have quick access to most of your important files. Try to only index folders whose contents you open regularly; indexing thousands of files you rarely or never open is simply a waste.
