Docky is a frontend for GNOME Do (Do) that introduces an entirely new way to interact with Do. Docky helps Do become more directly involved with your desktop by providing a persistent mouse based Dock interface while remaining true to Do's keyboard only interaction. Being tied directly into Do allows Docky to be adaptive and dynamic. As your usage patterns change, so too does Docky. For everything Do can do, Docky can too.

Getting Started

To get Docky running, simply open the Do preferences window by summoning Do and searching for "GNOME Do preferences". Select the appearance tab and select Docky as the theme. Docky will now be your frontend to GNOME Do. If you do not have Do installed, see Installing_Do.

When you search in Docky, you are presented with a large display of the result. No additional results are shown and the 2nd and 3rd "pane" (docky largely does away with the pane concept) results only show icons. This allows you stay focused looking for the result you want without worrying about what actions are coming up, after all, Do can figure that out for you. If it's wrong however, you can still press tab like normal

The only minor deviation from the standard Do interface is that the results list is never show (defered for a future release), and the interaction with it is "horizontal". Up and down represent entering and leaving children items, left and right give the previous and next result.

Don't like that icon anymore? Get rid of it! Just pick it up and drag it off the dock. Thats all you have to do. There is also a remove from dock option in the right click menu if you dont feel like playing with the mouse too much.

The number of automatic icons on the dock (icons which are managed by Do rather than you) is configurable by dragging the left and right edges of the dock. Dragging outwards will add more automatic icons, dragging inwards will reduce the number.

Right clicking a dock item gives you dialysis nurse job description a collection of actions you can perform on the launcher. These actions are pulled directly from Do and are reflective of the plugins you have installed. For this reason it is strongly recommended the Window Manager plugin be used with Docky.

Docky theme not appearing above other windows

There may be a problem with the Docky themed Do window not appearing above other activated windows. If you're using the iPhone 6 Compiz window manager (ie, have visual effects activated in your Appearance preferences) then you can correct this by changing the settings in the CompizConfig Settings Manager (ccsm).</s>

  1. To correct this, from the terminal type: gconf-editor
  2. Find the option "AllowWindowOverlap" in /apps/gnome-do/preferences/Docky/Utilities/DockPreferences and enable it.

The Docky-themed Do window should now appear above all other windows. snoring solutions background check cabinets
